Cosmetics, one of few ways that players can customize their on-screen characters, consist of bodily cosmetics, clothing cosmetics, pets, dance emotes, and expression emotes. Unlike other games, any form of player expression outside of name, friend code, and game lobby number is considered cosmetic expression.
For Betrayal.io and Fishington.io players, those signed into their own accounts can make temporary changes to the way they appear to other players with these cosmetics. Some come as default (except for pets, where all of them must be obtained), while others must be purchased for real money directly from temporary holiday shops; in blind bags, or B-Packs, which are purchasable for varying amounts of Betrayal Cash using real money; or obtained by entering a valid Redeem Code.
For players that enter the game for the first time, they will either be equipped with a randomized set of default cosmetics (all default cosmetics are still available if a player wants to change) or the default masculine cosmetic set: this set provides players with a black-haired white male with a pompadour cut wearing blue jeans, sneakers, and a pale blue t-shirt. The default feminine cosmetic set can be switched to if players wearing the default masculine cosmetic set use a Wardrobe to toggle their "gender expression" from masculine to feminine. Betrayal.io and Fishington.io have yet to have more forms of gender expression.
